Admission

Admission Requirements for D. Th.

A person who has passed the M. Th. of the Senate of Serampore College in Second Class with B Grade (57.5% and above) and cleared the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Senate of Serampore College. Before enrolling the Programme the student has to successfully complete the Methodology Seminar conducted by SATHRI.

Last Date for Receiving the Application

Application for admission for D. Th. to the courses in the prescribed form with all necessary documents should be submitted to the Registrar. The last date of receiving the completed application for admission is November 30 of every year.

Entrance Examination (D. Th.)

The candidate should pass the CET Examination conducted by the Serampore
University and the Interview conducted by the FFRRC Faculty

Admission Requirements for Master of Theology (M. Th.)

  • A person who has passed the B.D examination of the Senate of Serampore College in Second Class with B Grade (57.5% and above) and obtained B Grade (57.5% and above) average in the cluster in BD Studies, including the optional papers, under which the branch of candidate’s choice is clustered.
  • A person who has passed the B.D examination of the Senate of Serampore College securing an overall average B – (57.4% – 52.5%) separately retakes 4 papers at B.D Level in the intended branch of specialization and secures an average of B Grade (57.5% and above). A maximum of two attempts shall be allowed in each branch.
  • Before a candidate is registered for the M.Th course of studies, he/ she shall have at least one year of practical experience in some field of Christian service after passing the B.D or its equivalent theological degree. However, in the case of a candidate who seeks registration to the branch of Christian Ministry, one year of Practical experience in Ministry shall be required. The women candidates are exempted from this rule.
  • For admission to the M.Th course in a branch, the entire cluster’s grade shall be calculated for average.

Language Requirements

Old Testament

The candidates should have passed in at least two Hebrew Exegetical Papers at B.D Level, (other than the preliminary and advanced courses BBO11 & BBO12) securing a Second Class (57.5% and above) average

New Testament

The candidates should have passed in at least two Greek Exegetical Papers at B.D Level (other than the preliminary and advanced courses BBN01 & BBN02) with a minimum of Second Class (57.5% and above average grade [as applicable in section II (i)]

Christian Theology

A candidate should have passed one exegetical paper at B.D Level (other than Preliminary and advanced courses BBO11/ BBO12 & BBN01/ BBN02) in either Greek or Hebrew with B Grade (57.5% and above). In the case of Latin or Syriac should have passed in the examination conducted by the Senate or a Classical language of India such as Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, Oriya, Malayalam or Urdu passed either as first or second language in 10th standard, examinations conducted by a State Board or National Board of Education.

Religion

The candidate should have passed Sanskrit paper 1(B.D level paper in Sanskrit) as  Senate examined paper for studying Hinduism.

History of Christianity

There are no Biblical or Classical language requirements for admission. However, a candidate is required to have working knowledge of the languages necessary to study the primary resources for undertaking research.

Christian Ministry (Pastoral Counselling)

There are no Biblical or Classical language requirements for admission. However, a candidate is required to have working knowledge of the languages necessary to study the primary resources for undertaking research.

Missiology

There are no Biblical or Classical language requirements for admission. However, a candidate is required to have working knowledge of the languages necessary to study the primary resources for undertaking research.

Entrance Examination for Master of Theology (M. Th.)

Admission at FFRRC is done on the basis of the Entrance Test and the Interview conducted during the second week of January of every year. The Entrance Test has two parts; Two three hours examination one in English and other in the Subject. The candidate is required to pass both papers.
